About the Test Kit
The test kits provided on the website are qualified. OraQuick® HIV Self-Test which uses of oral fluid as specimen is prequalified by WHO and autotest VIH® HIV Self-Test which uses fingerprick blood as specimen is approved by the CE mark.
The sensitivity and specificity of OraQuick® HIV Self-Test is 99.4% and 99% respectively while the sensitivity and specificity of autotest VIH® is 100% and 99.8% respectively. The accuracy of the two test-kits are similar. As long as you follow the instructions in the test kit to perform the test, you can get the test results.
Test kits provided on this website detect the presence of HIV antibodies. After initial exposure, HIV antibodies take some time to develop in the human body before reaching a detectable level; this period, known as the window period, varies in different individuals and can be as long as 3 months.
You should have the test 3 months after the last time you are at risk. A negative result means you are not infected with HIV. If you have ongoing high risk behaviour, you should re-test every 3 to 12 months. (You can make reference to “HIV Testing Recommendation Tool” to determine your own testing schedule).
If the result is positive, it means you may be infected with HIV. However, this test is only a preliminary screening. Confirmatory test by taking venous blood is needed to confirm the diagnosis.
The storage temperature for the OraQuick HIV Self-Test and autotest VIH® HIV Self-Test is 2 - 30˚C and 8- 30˚C respectively. Ensure the test kit is away from direct sunlight or storage with high humidity.
Notes for using oral fluid-based self-test kits
Except for a timer or watch that can time 20 to 40 minutes, everything is provided by the HIV self-test kit set. If you need glasses to read, you will also need them for taking the test.
If you use the oral fluid-based test kit, avoid eating or drinking, chewing gum for at least 15 minutes or using oral care products (such as mouthwash or gargle) 30 minutes before the test. Remove dentures and anything which covers the gums prior to the oral fluid collection as this might affect the test result.
Regardless of whether you have a cold or flu, mouth sores, suffer from a chronic illness like hypertension, or are on any medications such as antibiotics, or vaccinations, your test result will not be affected.

Notes for using blood-based (fingerprick) self-test kits
Except for a timer or watch that can time 15 to 20 minutes, everything is provided by the HIV self-test set that was ordered from this website. If you wear glasses to read, you will need them for taking the test.
If you accidentally dropped the test device and touched the floor, you should not rely on the test result. Discard the test kit as the test result may be inaccurate.
Please follow the instructions to perform the test carefully.
After using an alcohol swab to disinfect your finger, wait for the finger to dry before pricking the skin with the lancet. Wipe the first drop of blood with a sterile gauze pad. Gently squeeze out the second drop of blood for testing.
While using the test device to collect blood sample, the pointed end of the test device should be filled with the right amount of blood as shown on the steps for taking fingerprick blood for the HIV self-test (refer to Step No. eight) on this website. Too much or too little blood can both cause inaccurate test results.
After you collect the right amount of blood sample, you should ensure the test device has been inserted into the test stand and has already punctured the foil cover of the buffer cap. You will feel it snap through 3 times during the process of insertion. Check for a pink stain that will start to appear in 1 minute. If there is no pink stain, push down more firmly on the test device to insert it completely.
