HIV testing recommendation tool

  • This self-assessment tool is based on the latest local HIV/ AIDS situation. Your sexual behaviour can have an impact on the predicted risk of infection. This tool will give you a rough idea of how often you should get tested for HIV based on what you have told us. It is not meant to replace the advice from healthcare professionals.
  • If your sexual behaviours change, the testing recommendation may change as well.
  • This tool cannot be applied to known people living with HIV.

If you have any doubts about the risk of HIV infection and you have never been tested or were not tested after the window period#, you are suggested to consider getting tested or consult health care professional.

#Window period: Window period is the period between the moment a person gets infected with HIV and that when the HIV test shows a positive result. The window period for HIV antibody testing is 3 months. That is, the period within three months from last high-risk behaviors (including having unsafe sex with a person of unknown HIV status).
